1st Trimester Must Haves

16 weeks in and I already have a few favorite things to share. Some may seem strange to the non-pregnant ladies, but I don't know how I would be surviving without them. I can't wait to find out what must have's I'll need in the coming months.

Let's get our baby on!

1. Tailored Sweatpants. Yup. The number one thing I probably couldn't live without in the last 15 weeks, is sweatpants. I have been more exhausted than I have ever been in my entire life. My waist line keeps changing, and honestly I just want to feel cozy while I nap, work from home, and empty out closet space (pray for us to the space gods). The ones I live in are J.Crew. I don't normally spend a ton on pajamas, but I bought these a few years back when I was heading on a ski trip with friends, and wanted to look like I had my shit together. I got a matching sweat pant and hoodie set on my credit card and every time I wear it, I wish all my pajamas were as fancy. You want to feel comfortable but not like a hot mess.

2. Nutri-Grain Bars. While I was lucky enough to avoid morning sickness (Thank you, Jesus), I wasn't interested in most foods. I'm starting to get my appetite back, but I go from not even being able to think about food to so hungry I might die. I even keep a bar next to my bed because when I get up to pee for the second or third time at night I usually feel like I'm starving to death. Regardless of the time of day or how many I've had, i can always eat another Nutri-Grain bar.

3. Abercrombie & Fitch Shorts. Now this one sounds strange. I haven't worn AF shorts since college, but when we were in Paris I wandered into the Versace Mansion-esque store and tried on a pair. I LOVED THEM. I came home and ordered a pair a size up and the stretch mixed with the low-rise has saved my life. I still have some space to grow, and I'm hoping to get through a few more weeks/months in these babies. I might even order a second pair.

4. Baby List Registry. GENIUS! As soon as we started to spread the news, my mom suggested putting together a baby registry. Once shower invites go out and people hear the word, they want to send something. And since everything needs to be mailed to our little island home, I was hooked on Amazon, but still liked a blanket here, a car seat there or a romper here. Baby List combines all of your registries into one list, and gives your friends and family options on where the products can be found. Maybe they want to want into a Buy Buy Baby and pick the item up themselves, Baby List let's you know if they have it. I'm so obsessed with this site and feel so grateful that it exists. Plus, when I log in it helps me know I have my bases covered. Instead of being spread thin about town, I can see what's on the list and what's lacking without hopping back and forth. They even offer a card print out to send with your shower invitations.

5. Macro-Exfoliator. I have sang from the mountain tops how much I love my Unblemish regimen from Rodan+Fields, and it has kept my skin clear through out, but the Macro has been my recent life saver. My skin has been insanely dry these past few months. It itches and flakes and I hate it. I pulled out this baby a few weeks ago and now I do it weekly. My face snows when I use it and I feel SO beyond refreshed afterwards. It saves me from blackheads and embarrassing dry skin patches.

6. Heating Pad. So glamorous. I know. While I am super lucky and have had a wonderful pregnancy, I get mild headaches and neck-aches on the regular. I think it's from the lack of caffeine and awkward sleeping positions. Since medication is out, this heat pad has been my lifesaver. I sit with it, sleep with it. It's heaven. I would suggest getting one with timer so you don't worry about burns when you fall asleep with it. Mine even remembers which setting you had it on, so when I put it back on in my sleep, it's exactly at the level of warmth I want.

7. WATER! Water is so important pregnant or not, but with a baby on board you really need to up your intake. Since my skin has been so dry, I have been desperately trying to down 100oz a day if I can. I do get bored of the flavor, so I'll add in a little gatorade here, a little apple juice there. I carry a bottle with me from room to room and all about. I haven't been seen with out a water bottle in 12 weeks.

8. Flowy Dresses. As my mom would say "Luckily, you always wear baggy clothing anyways." As I mentioned with the shorts, I am desperately trying to avoid purchasing a large amount of maternity clothes, if any. The idea of having a bunch of clothing I can only wear for a few months, makes me itch. Plus, they aren't cheap! I have been living is baggy shirts, like this Free People gem, or trapeze type dresses like this one. I'll be doing clothing posts soon, now that the cat's out of the bag, and it'll be a fun experiment to see what I can squeeze into as the months go by.
