Sunny Day Casual

Sunny Day Casual

If you checked out my Shopular post this week, you know how much I love a good lazy day outfit. And not just on Sundays. I lead a casual life, but I don't think that means you needs to sacrifice your sense of style. Fashion can feel out of reach, but style is for everyone. And to me style is being comfortable in your skin. Doesn't matter what you are wearing.

Sittin' On The Dock... Thinking Out Loud.

Sittin' On The Dock... Thinking Out Loud.

Every time I get fed up with "Island Life", I see this water and go, "Maybe I could do a few more years." It looks like paradise. I agree. Waters like this heal your soul in a place you didn't know you needed healing. The slow life style forces you to enjoy the moments and the people more than the things. (Or tings, as they say here.) Sure, grocery shopping is a nightmare. Mail is a whole situation that often involves me waiting weeks for something, or spending 3 days tracking down a package. I would die for a Target. A CVS. An anything really. You learn that power and water can go off at any time, probably daily, and it becomes a little game against the clock.  You learn that lunch will take 2 hours for a sandwich. And you learn to chill the F out.

Sea Shells and Sweaters

Sea Shells and Sweaters

It's hitting that time where every day is a beach day. The other day, Jeff got off work before the sun went down, so we decided to head to the beach downstairs and soak up the last bits of sunshine. The wind was heading in so I grabbed this old BCBGeneration "sweater" on our way out. I don't usually wear jewelry to the beach, but I had been in a sundress, and decided to just leave them on. It felt kind of fancy to wear necklaces with my bathing suit! Only practical for reading on the beach, definitely not a boat day, but it was fun all the same. If you saw my instagram, while we were hanging out and taking pictures, a gentleman found a live conch! It was so gorgeous...

Beach Bag Essentials (+ Giveaway!)

Beach Bag Essentials (+ Giveaway!)

I am at the beach 2+ days a week. It's down stairs so it's hard not to go soak up the sun for at least a few minutes a day. Given that that is our lifestyle we have a beach bag by our door that never gets unpacked. There are a few things that never ever leave my beach bag. Those things are sunscreen, a good book, a towel, and my Evian spray. I can't go to the beach without those things. (In my hand is usually a Tervis or a Coozie holding my cold drink.)

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun x RahRahDesigns

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun x RahRahDesigns

I have been eyeing this RahRah Designs bikini for a while, and a month ago it went on sale so I snatched one up right away. Monograms are really making a turn for the cool. What used to feel stuffy or childish to be now feels like a badge of honor. My initials didn't change with marriage so my monogram represents all of me. And it reminds me of college, where with stitched our sorority letters anything that didn't walk.

Barbara Gerwit Beach Days

Barbara Gerwit Beach Days

When we found out we were moving to the Bahamas, I pictured lounging on the beaches in gorgeous cover ups and simplistic gold jewelry. To be completely honest, I'm normally in cut off jean shorts, barefoot, in a tank top. That outfit lasts the boat ride over to the beach, and then I'm in my bikini the rest of the day. Then this tunic arrived from Barbara Gerwitt. It's a game changer.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day my loves!! As much as I am a hopeless romantic, I never loved the hustle and bustle of Valentine's Day. It's so crowded. My favorite thing to do on this day of love is to make an amazing meal and cuddle up to watch a movie. No gifts or fuss. (I like a good card though. Maybe flowers and chocolate.) Basically how we always hang out, but with extra special food and less technology.

Sexpot Swimwear

Sexpot Swimwear

Confession. I went years without owning a pair of shorts. I remember crying when I bought a jean skirt in college out of pure anxiety. I grew up in Miami, FL and was/am as white as white can be. Kids being kids, several people made comments. Even boyfriends called me Casper or told me how much prettier I would be with a tan. Asking me why I forgot to wear clothing when I would wear white shirts to school. It made me wholly uncomfortable, but not depressed or anything extreme...

Wine Tasting at Young's

Wine Tasting at Young's

Last week, Young's Fine Wine had a Italian wine tasting. I ALWAYS miss these, and it hurts my soul, but I finally made one! I will tell you... it was worth the wait. I'll never miss one again. William Young, the owner, has such an incredible knowledge and passion for wine. It's just infectious...

Fish Fry + Coffee Break

Fish Fry + Coffee Break

J and I were headed to go pick up our mail the other day and decided to swing by the Fish Fry on our way downtown for a little coffee break. I will tell you that hot coffee was a poor choice. I was sweating just holding it. But I'm a sucker for a Starbucks soy latte. Next time I'll opt for some Sky Juice...
