Boyfriend Jeans + ShoeDazzle Mules

A while back I saw these ShoeDazzle mules in red on Orly Shani and fell in love. She's sweet and cool and effortless. Red mules on her were like, duh. But I was nervous that I couldn't pull them off. So, I waited for months, debating back and forth between black and red, and then eventually they went on final sale and I decide to heck with it, and order them in both colors. They are SO comfortable and probably favorites in my closet. I wish I had ordered the months ago! Isn't it funny how that works?

Sometimes you find special gems that make you walk a little taller. Maybe those gems are $950 or maybe they are $29.95. It doesn't matter. What matters is that YOU love that piece. Sometimes with style, truly expressing yourself is the part that makes you nervous. Allowing your mental image to match with your external image, and hoping that they live up to one another.

Sometimes I over dress for the island, people ask where I'm heading out to. But you know what happens when I feel confident in wearing red lipstick for no reason? Or when I compliment someone else on their amazing statement necklace at lunch? They walk taller too. When you start to feel confident in your skin, it spreads to the people around you. Giving others permission to feel comfortable in theirs. And THAT is the best thing about style.
